Until now, switching from Splitwise to a couples-focused app meant starting from scratch: you'd add a single "starting balance" and lose months of history. Not anymore.
As of May 2026, Splitt can import your entire Splitwise group from a CSV export. It reads each person's balance, figures out who paid and how each expense was split, and rebuilds everything inside Splitt — automatically.
Splitwise keeps shrinking its free tier — receipt scanning and card integration moved to Pro-only in May 2026, and the free plan still caps you at 3 expenses per month before nudging you toward a subscription. For couples, you're also paying for group features you never use.
The friction was always the same: "I'd switch, but I don't want to lose my history." The CSV import removes that friction entirely.
Open your group in Splitwise → tap the gear / settings icon → choose "Export as spreadsheet (CSV)". Splitwise emails you (or downloads) a .csv file with every expense.
Go to splitt-app.com (no install needed — it runs in your browser) and sign in. Open Settings → Import.
Tap "Import CSV" and pick the file you got from Splitwise.
Splitt shows each person from your Splitwise group and lets you assign them to you or your partner. It auto-matches by name, so usually you just confirm.
Hit "Import expenses". Splitt recreates every expense with the right payer, split and date — and your real-time balance updates instantly.

Yes. Splitt reads each person's net balance from the CSV and reconstructs the payer, equal or unequal splits, and any settle-up payments.
No. The import only reads a copy — the CSV file you exported. Your original Splitwise account stays exactly as it is.
Splitt automatically skips duplicates (same date, description and amount), so you won't end up with double entries.
